Getting ready for the US market

Wishbone Xenograft receives clearance from the FDA

"We are now reaching the point where the product we have been working on for several years enters the commercialization phase. This is a very exciting time."

These are the words of François Blondel, president of Wishbone, as the company gets ready for the US market. After nine years of research and diligent work in dentistry, the whole team is very excited to introduce its technology abroad.

And we have reasons to be so! Wishbone is entering the American market with a very competitive product and a valuable network.

A promising start

The company developed some partnerships with first-line dental surgeons who were impressed by the performance of Wishbone HA. Our biomaterial used for xenograft has indeed demonstrated very promising results for dental reconstruction. Two renowned surgeons from Boston and San Diego have already embarked with us and our first patients were treated.

A growing market

The dental implant industry has been flourishing for the past years, favoured by population ageing and the growing affordability of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. The market is expected to exceed $8 billion in the next five years.

And Wishbone is serious about riding this wave: supported by a Walloon pool of investors, the commercial launch in the US will be financed by the €2.7 million raised in November, complemented by non-dilutive funding of €1 million from Sofinex and Novalia.

The company thus inaugurates its first steps outside of the Belgian market with the United States, and it does not stop there: a European authorization is also expected by the end of the year.

This season marks a turning point for Wishbone with a thrilling entry into the worldwide market of dental reconstruction. Our technology is ready to work wonders in bone grafting: we, to say the least, know the drill.
